The TIG welded fuselage is faricated from aircraft grade 4130 chrome moly steel tubing. The wings, wing struts, and cross members are fabricated from anodized, 6061 T-6 aluminum. There are eleven ribs per wing assembled on tubular spars. Each wing houses a 9 gallon, fabricated aluminum fuel tank.
The aircraft is covered with treated and painted 3.6oz (90-120g) aircraft grade fabric. The fabric is hand stitched to the wings and horizontal tail surfaces. Flap adjustment can be set to three different positions with a 35 degree maximum.
The Savage features the classic "Taildragger" arrangement. Full swivel tail-wheel enhances ground handling. The main landing gear is fitted with a typical bungee configuration that includes safety cables to prevent over extension. Hydraulic toe brakes are provided for both front and rear.
The two-piece engine cowl provides easy engine access. The large, swing-up door can be opened in flight for greater access and visibility for sight seeing and taking pictures.
